MBA News

Some of you may know that I was considering law school. Well after a lot of soul searching I realized that the idea of studying law was far more appealing than the idea of becoming a lawyer. In fact after doing a whole bunch of career research I found out that 75% of what most lawyers do would bore me to death 100% of the time. While researching a career in law I was also researching options to continue consulting and I found more and more that doing what I do on a larger scale would really appeal to me. In Late April, I totally changed directions. I took the GMAT, wrote a bunch of essays and applied to the top B-Schools in So Cal (UCLA, UCI and USC). After a lot of sleepless nights I was accepted at my top choice.  Starting in September I will begin studying at UC Irvine school of business. In 2010 I will receive my MBA and many new opportunities will open up to me. I am extremely excited and I really feel like this is the path I should have been on all along.

Leather vs Kevlar

Alright all you motorcycle enthusiasts out there. I've recently switched from a full leather rig to kevlar and I'm very happy with it. I've sworn by leather for years but the freedom of movement and the excellent weather protection from kevlar got me to pick up some from the local cycle shop. I'm concerned that kevlar isn't as protective in an accident as leather. The gear I purchased is the same manufacturer as my leathers (Frank Thomas) and according to their site, kevlar tests and reports to have better success in crashes. I've heard some horror stories about kevlar nylon mixes such as the Joe Rocker incidents from a few years back (the nylon melted to the road rash in some cases, really messy). Anyone out there in journal land have opinions about the two forms of protection?

(no subject)

So I tried to log on this morning to my ING account and the site was down. I'm sure it's nothing but in the back of my head alarm bells started sounding. Here is this financial entity that Shana and I have almost all of our liquid money tied up in and most of our non real investments as well in the form of short term CD's. Wouldn't it absolutely suck if the company just up and disappeared one day? What would we do? I think its FDIC insured but now that the sites down I don't remember if I saw that on there or not. Because they have no brick and mortar establishments that I know of in my area, I would be absolutely lost.

In other news, I haven't talked to my sister in about a year. (perhaps July of 06) I've left her messages and e-mails but have heard nothing back. If anyone who sees this talks to Alyc, can you let her know that her brother is beginning to think he's done something to make her hate him.

Life is going well but for some reason thoughts of despair are filling my head this morning. I'm trying to distill it into a poignant quotable and here's how I think it boils down "Want for anything ensures the universe can control you."

Lakewood is going to the dogs...

I saw a pair of coyotes by the river tonight. Pretty cool but they did size me and Frosty up a bit but I stomped my feet and flailed my arms around and Frosty barked a bit and they ran off. The entire rest of the run back to the house though, Frosty and I had our guard up.

Quick school update

WHERE ARE MY F---ING APPLICATION RESPONSES!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
